This session will explore the far-reaching impact of occupational injuries, not only on injured workers but also on the caregivers who support them. We will examine the unique responsibilities and challenges caregivers face, and introduce practical strategies—including mindfulness—to help foster resilience and well-being in the caregiver role. Lisa Houtkooper is a registered nurse with over 30 years of diverse healthcare experience, including work as a nurse practitioner. She is currently employed with the Occupational Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She holds a Master of Nursing degree, a leadership development certificate from Mediation services and certification as a de-escalation trainer. Passionate about fostering psychologically safe workplaces and advancing equity in healthcare, Lisa is dedicated to strengthening the capacity of workers, workplaces, and communities to promote health, dignity, and safety.
