Is someone you know experiencing a change in substance use? Maybe it’s your spouse, a close friend, a parent or child, or maybe it’s you. Sudden shifts in life, like those that may occur when a workplace tragedy happens, can throw a wrench in even the most established set of coping methods. Whether an addiction problem was started or exacerbated due to a tragic event, there is power in knowledge and community conversations. Topics that will be covered include a primer on addictions and treatment, the impacts of stigma and shame, and available resources. Dialogue, sharing of experiences, and mutual support will be welcomed.
