Steps for Life: Where Purpose Meets Community
Steps for Life – Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy is a keystone safety event across Canada each spring. Each community that has joined on our stepwise journey over the past 20+ years started with one safety-minded individual who is committed to injury and illness prevention and support for those who’ve been most deeply affected by the loss of life, limb, livelihood, or self after such a tragedy.
At some point, that one person turned to another and said, “I think we should do this, too.”
From there, each community’s Steps for Life event was seeded, nurtured and grown into the event it is today. There were 31 Steps for Life events last year, and it’s exciting to see several new communities working with us to join Steps for Life this coming spring.
At its heart, Steps for Life is where purpose meets community.
In addition to the attention Steps for Life raises for the importance of workplace health and safety, the event also raises critical funds for the family support programs and services Threads of Life offers workers and their loved ones after a workplace fatality, life-altering injury, or occupational disease. In fact, Steps for Life is the greatest source of revenue supporting Threads of Life’s ongoing operation.
Step by step, side by side, we walk in April and May. We hope you’ll join us! Come and be a part of the Steps for Life community, where workers and families connect with health and safety professionals committed to safer workplaces. Where compassionate and community-focused individuals walk alongside local companies committed to building a safer and healthier community that benefits us all.
This spring, communities all across the country will walk – step by step – alongside those who are committing to prevention efforts.
