Steps for Life: A Sea of Yellow Change

A collage of assorted Steps for Life events held in April and May 2026.

Thank you for your support of workers and families affected by workplace tragedy

2026 Steps for Life has been a whirl of yellow (and blue!) T-shirts, celebratory LinkedIn posts, and so much support for workers and families affected by workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. As weighted as the reason is for us to gather each spring, a successful Steps for Life run can’t help but make you feel lighter. Heartened to a cultural shift that places higher and higher value on workers’ lives while making their livelihood.

The dedicated support that hundreds of planning committee volunteers bring to this effort each year is what powers this effort. Months of careful planning, discussions, meetings, bookings, and consultation. You’re planning a party without knowing how many people will show up! How many burgers and T-shirts will we need? Will the snow melt along our walk route in time?!!

And somehow, it all comes together. Not perfectly; that’s not how event planning works! But because the reason we’ve gathered, and our own individual reasons for participating, rise to the top. And we look around to see all of the other walkers in bright yellow, and the team of volunteers in blue, and the common threads uniting our efforts shine through.

Needed funds are raised. Friends and family hug. Teams gather for photos. Smiles, laughter, connections and plans are made.

Thank you to all of the volunteers, walkers, donors and sponsors who made 2026 Steps for Life possible!
