Lace Up! Your Final Game Plan for Steps for Life

Two men and a woman in Steps for Life T-shirts smile for the camera.

It’s almost time! Over the next few weekends, we’re coming together as a community to stand up for health and safety. Whether you’re walking for a loved one, a colleague, or a safer future, your heart and your presence make all the difference for those affected by workplace tragedy.

To make sure your walk day is as smooth as possible, here is your quick last-minute checklist.

  1. Last-minute walkers? The more the merrier!
Your friends and family members can join you right up until walk time. They can register on the website right from their mobile device.
  2. Keep the momentum — and fundraising — going
The momentum doesn’t stop on walk day! You can continue to fundraise online through the end of May. If you meet someone on your walk who wants to support Steps for Life, or if you forget to ask that one neighbour, you’ve still got plenty of time to reach out and make your fundraising goal!
  3. Handling cash and cheques
The easiest way to donate is to have a support click “donate” on the website and search for your name. But if your friend would rather make an “old school” donation, ensure their cash or cheque donation is marked on a pledge sheet and that you follow the specific steps outlined on our cash and cheque tip sheet to ensure those funds get to Threads of Life safely.
  4. Dress for it!
As we all know, the weather in late April and early May can be a bit of a wildcard! Be sure to check the local forecast before you head out, and dress in layers. Remember, we walk rain, snow or shine!

Our deepest thanks…

Every step we take together over the next few weekends sends a powerful message of hope and support for workers and their families. Thank you for being the beating heart of 2026 Steps for Life. We can’t wait to walk with you!

Have a great walk!
