Trillium Foundation Awards $199,200 Grant to Assist
Ontario Families Impacted by Workplace Tragedy
LONDON Ontario -
August 19, 2009 – The
Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) has awarded a two-year,
$199,200 grant to Threads of Life (Association for
Workplace Tragedy Family Support) to support families of
workplace tragedy. The project funding will assist Threads
of Life to recruit, train and strengthen the skills of
volunteers and to promote services for family members
across Ontario who have been impacted by workplace
fatalities, life-altering injury or occupational disease.
“Investing in Threads of Life gives families the
opportunity to move forward,” said Khalil Ramal, MPP for
London-Fanshawe. “By investing in our people, we
are making our community stronger and building a brighter
future for our province.”
Money
from the two-year grant is being used to help the
not-for-profit organization to continue to build on its
key strengths: volunteers, programs designed to help
families through a workplace tragedy and building
awareness. Over
this period, new volunteers will be recruited and trained
to help run the many key programs that are offered by
Threads of Life. As
well, a book on the subject of workplace injury will be
produced and their website further developed.

“On
behalf of our family members who have been impacted by a
workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational
disease, we are so very grateful for the project funding
approved by the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said
Shirley Hickman, Executive Director.
“Threads of Life is looking forward to furthering
our support to assist our Ontario volunteers- many of whom
have been touched by a workplace tragedy themselves.”
